A traditional style rat guarding a holy houju. Houju are sacred jewels in Japanese Buddhism that are symbols of purification and often guarded by folklore creatures and animals in Japanese culture and seen in many shrines throughout Japan.
We created two designs of a rat with houju. This one that is more like a Japanese traditional design that you might find in a shrine's artwork for an ema (wooden charm), goshuin (decorative paper blessing), or omamori (embroidered cloth charm). This design will be especially popular among tattoo artists or Japanese tattoo collectors as the houju is a common theme.
About the Collection
This was the third design for 2023âs Moujuu Pin Club theme centered around animals commonly found in Japanese artistic motifs.
